Recently we hosted our first ever themed night - French Night. It turned out to me tremendous success and one of the things all our gusts commented on was our welcome cocktail - French 75 (or Soixante Quinze ). So we thought we will share with you not only the standard recipe, but also our little secret ingredient. It is a really easy cocktail to make and is perfect as an aperitif for your guests.

First of all, there are two ways you can do French 75: with Gin or with Brandy. Bear in mind that both of the spirits are used as a base for the cocktail, so the taste will come through quite strongly once the cocktail is finished.

Ingredients: 2 oz Champagne, 1/2 oz Lemon juice (or one whole lemon), 1 oz Gin (try using Hendrix as it is quite mellow) or Brandy, 2 Dashes Sugar syrup . In our cocktails we have used Edinburgh Ginger & Rhubarb Gin Liqueur, which is nice and refreshing as well as quite sweet. I would not recommend using any sugar if you are using a gin liqueur. But I would definitely recommend using some great combinations to make the cocktail memorable!

Preparation: Combine gin (brandy), syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into an iced champagne glass. Top up with Champagne. Stir gently.(you can also top up with Crement)

Drinkware: Champagne flute, cocktail glass, martini glass or whatever you thing is pretty. Decorate with lemon zest

Enjoy and I am sure your gusts will love your bar tending skills! Good luck and please send us a photo on info@limestonehotel.co.uk
